20 Things You Must Know About Bamboo Flooring

  7. Make sure that the humidity levels remain steady. Invest in a dehumidifier or humidifier to maintain relative humidity at 30-50%. This will help in being able to maintain the moisture level and it will not develop cracks between the boards. If it is constantly exposed to high amounts of humidity then it can result in it bulging or swelling up. On the other hand continued lack of humidity which is less than 20% will cause shrinking or cracking of the bamboo strips.

  1. Do not allow any kind of moisture to stagnate be it floor cleaner or water.
  2. Do not let any dust particles or grim build up. Dirt of any kind is its greatest enemy.
  3. Do not use a vacuum that has a beater bar affixed to it.
  4. Do not use a mop or sponge that is wet as this will result in the floor swelling up.
  5. This type of floors and wax certainly don’t gel together.
  6. Do not use hard substances to clean the surface as they will only go on to scratch it and create marks on them.
  7. Do not use any scrubbing material on the bamboo floor that is harsh.
